Our full-cycle capabilities allow us to deliver safer and more effective treatments for patients.
The Amcare Innovation Platform has built a 2,000-square-meter cell therapy facility. It has multiple Class B GMP workshops, full quality testing labs and five research labs. We complete all production, product release and cell infusion in-house. Everything meets domestic rules for clinical research and application, with steady and reliable quality. As the group’s key clinical unit for cancer cell therapy, Arion Cell Therapy Center masters nearly ten related technologies. Our work covers patient assessment, cell preparation, quality control and post—infusion care. Core team members have years of experience in clinical cell therapy. Our GMP workshops work closely with clinical staff. The whole process from production to infusion is done on site. This keeps quality fully controlled and ensures timely treatment. We can set up flexible MDT teams. Specialists from oncology, surgery, radiotherapy and critical care work together to create personalized treatment plans for patients. We use and test both commercial and experimental products. We keep gaining experience to understand new technologies and respond quickly.
CAR-T
CAR-T therapy modifies patients’T cells outside the body with gene technology. The modified cells carry chimeric antigen receptors to target tumor antigens. After being infused back into the body, they can accurately find and kill tumor cells. This treatment works precisely and lasts long, bringing new hope for patients with recurrent or hard-to-treat cancers.
LM101 is an original CD19-CAR product developed by US-China Innovation Platform. It also uses our self-developed PD1/CD28 switch receptor. Current CD19 CAR-T products have two major problems. Tumor cells may lower CD19 levels to escape attack. Besides, PD-L1 in tumor tissues binds to PD-1 on CAR-T cells and makes them stop working quickly. The PD1/CD28 switch receptor in LM101 turns inhibitory signals into activating signals. It targets tumors and improves the tumor environment at the same time. It works better than traditional CD19 CAR-T combined with PD-1 antibodies. We are running clinical trials for LM101 together with top cancer centers including Peking University Cancer Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. So far, it shows good safety and treatment results. Meanwhile, Amcare Innovation Platform and Arion Cancer centre cooperate with other partners. We carry out clinical research on CAR-T products for solid tumors, to treat more types of cancers.
TILs
TIL therapy first isolates tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes from patients’ tumor tissues. These cells are expanded and optimized in the lab, then infused back into the body. TILs can naturally recognize various tumor antigens and target tumors effectively. They are a promising treatment for advanced solid tumors. The first-generation TILs require no gene modification. The second and third generations use gene editing to boost cell functions, while keeping their natural diverse receptors. They work exceptionally well against highly heterogeneous solid tumors. TIL treatment includes surgical sampling, cell isolation, lab expansion, quality control and cell infusion. All steps must work closely together. Any break in the process will weaken the treatment effect. This is where our TIL treatment stands out. Arion Cancer Center, a tertiary cancer hospital under Amcare Healthcare Group, unifies surgical and medical teams within one system. Surgeons collect tissue samples, while physicians design treatment plans and manage the whole infusion process. Smooth in-house teamwork avoids extra troubles. Patients do not need to visit different facilities. Waiting time is shortened, so we can seize the best treatment window.
We also extend the whole TIL service chain. We can extract and freeze TIL cells when patients’ tumor tissues are most suitable for sampling. These stored cells are reserved for later use. When patients receive second or third-line treatments and are ready for TIL infusion, we thaw and expand the frozen cells for use. After multiple rounds of chemo and radiotherapy, tumor tissues may no longer be usable for sampling. Patients may also become too weak for another surgery. Many patients end up having a viable treatment plan but no available cells. Early cell cryopreservation keeps a valuable treatment option for them. We cooperate closely with leading domestic TIL companies on registered clinical trials and investigator-initiated trials. We tailor treatment plans for each patient. We combine TIL therapy with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy to maximize treatment benefits. Our treatments mainly cover advanced solid tumors such as lung cancer, gynecological tumors including ovarian and cervical cancer, head and neck cancer and melanoma.
Allogeneic NKT cells
NKT cells are a special type of immune cell. They have the natural killing ability of NK cells and the antigen-driven activation function of T cells. When activated by antigens, they release large amounts of cytokines and trigger broad immune responses, involving NK cells, macrophages and adaptive immunity. NKT cells can efficiently target tumor sites. They carry a low risk of Graft-versus-Host Disease (GvHD) and work against tumors through multiple pathways. They show unique advantages in treating solid tumors. Allogeneic NKT cells are isolated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy donors. After strict safety screening, the cells are expanded in the lab. They can be prepared in advance, stored frozen long-term and used whenever needed. This option is ideal for patients requiring early intervention. Our allogeneic NKT therapy is mainly for solid tumor patients who achieve complete or partial remission after surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Given during the maintenance phase, this cellular immunotherapy helps eliminate remaining tumor cells, lower recurrence risks and improve long-term outcomes.
Personalized mRNA Cancer Vaccine Therapy
Cancer vaccines are a key part of tumor immunotherapy. They trigger and boost the body’s anti-tumor immune response to target cancer cells precisely. Unlike preventive vaccines, therapeutic cancer vaccines are used for patients already diagnosed with cancer. They work by using tumor-associated antigens (TAA) and tumor-specific antigens (TSA) to activate dendritic cells (DC). These cells then stimulate tumor-specific T cells and build long-term immune memory against tumors. Once effective, cancer vaccines deliver lasting results with relatively mild side effects. Our personalized mRNA cancer vaccines are mainly for patients who have no standard adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery, or cannot tolerate routine radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The customized vaccines help the body build active anti-tumor immunity and reduce the risk of cancer recurrence. They are especially suitable for high-risk patients with limited treatment options.
Autologous NK cells
NK cells are key components of the innate immune system. They can recognize and destroy tumor cells and virus-infected cells without MHC restriction, acting as the body’s first line of defense against cancer. Autologous NK therapy collects NK cells from the patient’s own peripheral blood. The cells are stimulated, expanded and activated with cytokines such as IL-2 and IL-15 in the lab, then infused back to restore the body’s innate immunity. We have greatly optimized the NK cell culture process. With rigorous purification and activation protocols, the cell purity reaches over 99% and cell activity is significantly improved. Its therapeutic potential outperforms traditional cultural methods. This autologous NK therapy is mainly for non-cancer patients. It helps people with low immunity, recurring infections and sub-health issues related to declining immune function. It regulates and strengthens innate immunity, so as to improve overall health and quality of life.
Umbilical cord-derived MSCs and exosomes
MSCs feature strong immune regulation, tissue repair and anti-inflammatory effects. They secrete various bioactive substances to adjust the immune environment, restrain overactive T cells and macrophages, and boost the production of Treg cells. They are widely used for inflammatory diseases such as diabetes, graft-versus-host disease and tissue damage repair. Exosomes released by MSCs are extracellular vesicles of 30 to 150 nanometers. They carry proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and other active molecules from MSCs to enable cell communication. They share similar immune regulation and tissue repair functions with MSCs, and are safer for repeated use with no risk of embolism. We follow strict standards to manage cell seed banks. Multiple quality checks are conducted throughout production. We test cell purity, viability, passage number and secretory activity for every batch to meet high requirements.
